Assessment Service
Often the first hurdle for a writer is getting someone who knows what they are talking about to read their work and give them feedback. Stages will arrange two dramaturgical assessments by experienced practitioners who will detail a scripts strengths and weaknesses. These appraisals by highly skilled professionals are aimed at helping you to make your script as good as it can possibly be.
Feedback may include, but is not limited to, an analysis of the following questions concerning your script:
- Is the play stage-able?
- Are all the characters necessary and do they feed into the storyline
- Are there any loose ends in the play?
- Is the play about too much?
- Is the play too personal?
- Is the dialogue convincing?
- Is the constructing of the play sound?
- Does the writer have a strongly developed “voice” or style?
- Do the characters give the impression of being distinctive, living and breathing people?
- Does the play communicate its final meaning and effect through the multiple elements of theatre?
- Is the play too intent on promoting some sort of propagandist message?
- Does the play provide roles that would be challenging and tempting to actors?
- Does dialogue lift off the page? Does it advance the action?
